Let's Talk

Do you identify as a Millennial or Gen Z woman who is ready to get a handle on her symptoms by challenging societal norms and establishing a life that feels like it fits who you really are? I would love the opportunity to get to know you and learn about your goals. Please call, email, or text to set up an appointment or schedule a free initial 15 minute consultation to see if we could be a good fit. I know the decision to start therapy is a big one, often filled with a lot of questions, concerns, and doubts. I love meeting with people to answer any questions they have about the therapy process (whether they choose to work with me or not). I try to remove as much mystery from the experience as I can to make people feel more comfortable and confident in their decisions to seek therapy services and improve their mental health.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?

At this time Redbird Counseling can accept most Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) and Health Partners insurance plans. For those looking to utilize their insurance plan, it is always best to contact your insurance plan to confirm coverage for mental health services and Redbird Counseling. All co-pays/co-insurances are due at the time of service and vary from plan to plan. All major credit cards, HSA cards, and cash are accepted.

How much will my session cost?

The cost of your therapy session will depend on if you are using insurance or if you are paying privately. Redbird Counseling offers the option for clients to self-pay/privately pay for their sessions. Choosing to pay out of pocket for your sessions allows for more freedom to modify therapy sessions as needed to best fit what each individual is looking for. Not billing insurance companies frees us from the confines of a set number of sessions, session lengths, specific therapeutic approaches, and formal diagnosis that using insurance requires. This options allows includes a super bill, which clients can submit to their insurance independently for potential reimbursement.

If you are using insurance the cost varies from plan to plan based on your benefits. It is always best for you to contact your insurance provider to verify services and determine if you have a deductible, coinsurance, or a copay.

Prices for individuals who choose to pay privately are as follows:

  • 15 Minute Introductory Consultation (in person, virtually, or via phone) – Free

  • 50-60 Minute intake session - $175

  • 50-55 Minute individual session - $150

All payments are due in full at the time of the session. All major credit cards, HSA cards, and cash are accepted. You can find a copy of our No Surprise Act paperwork below.

No Surprise Act Information

What will my first session be like?

The first session will consist of reviewing the policies/procedures, informed consent, and collecting a detailed history of what is bringing you in for counseling. It's during this session that you and your therapist will discuss your therapy goals and go over recommendations for frequency of therapy visits and scheduling. If you have any questions for your therapist, this is a great time to ask those.

How long will I need to do therapy?

The amount of time an individual is in therapy largely depends on their presenting issue and the goals they set for themselves. There is no timeline for healing, so the length of time someone participates in therapy varies and it ultimately up to client and therapist discretion. Clients may terminate therapy services at any time, but it is best to schedule a termination appointment rather than just stopping appointments.

Where are you located?

Redbird Counseling is located at 614 Hawthorne St, Suite 3, Alexandria, MN 56308. There is street parking for clients along Hawthorne Street. Redbird Counseling's office is labeled with a sign on the door with chairs to wait on around the corner of the office.

What's your cancellation policy?

Redbird Counseling requires 24 hours advanced notice (however, the more the better) for appointment cancellations or rescheduling to avoid a charge. There are many people in need of mental health services so timely cancellations allow for others in need to be able to get the support they are seeking.
